Death NYC
Filled with colorful and cultural references that are hard to miss on the street or hanging on a gallery wall, Death NYC intersperses images of famous figures such as Marilyn Monroe, the Obama's, and Mickey Mouse with iconic motifs from the history of art such as Andy Warhol's soup cans and Jeff Koons's balloon dogs to create collages that poke fun at pop-culture icons and the media-driven collages that idolize culture. Humorous and irreverent, Death NYC street art is often emblazoned with the ominous label "DEATH," an acronym for "Don't Give Up Hope. A native New Yorker, Death NYC prefers to remain anonymous to protect the freedom of her street art practice.
