Born in 1987 in Nanning, Guangxi. Graduated from Guangxi Art Institute. He has worked at Pace Beijing and participated in the execution of several important exhibitions. Huang Qiyou's art practice is mostly based on mixed-media paintings. His early works focused on deconstructing the objects in his memories by using traditional iconography and anti-traditional methods, searching for the communal relationship between his personal memories and oriental aesthetics. His recent creations start from the historical logic of traditional landscapes, dialoguing with the ancients, discovering the hidden relationship between personal emotions and landscapes, bringing the ideal home of modern people into the spiritual world of the ancients, and contemplating the open expression of traditional iconography.
