Huang Yulong's sculptures are based on traditional ceramics and cast bronze, with the most widely recognized sculpture series of sports hoodies demonstrating the collision of Eastern traditions with contemporary Western trends, and as such the works often combine the charm of Chinese pottery with elements of the contemporary material world. The combination of these two cultures and materials challenges our expectations of solemn serenity and reflects China's rapid transformation from tradition to internationalization. His sculptures are cool and distinctive, utilizing a variety of materials, respecting traditional Chinese culture, but also enjoying the pursuit of the new and the unknown. He combines elements from the East and the West, the ancient and the modern, and expresses his attitude in a calm language.
