Wu Guanzhen

A native of Nanping, Fujian Province, now living in Xiamen, he is a representative of contemporary Chinese lacquer art innovation. By combining lacquer and ramie, he breaks through the heaviness of traditional lacquer art and creates a unique "light and translucent lacquer art production process", which gives the works a translucent and dynamic light and shadow effect, and has been awarded a national patent. His creative inspiration comes from his childhood memories of the landscape in northern Fujian, and his works, such as the "That Mountain" and "That Water" series, are a blend of natural imagery and oriental philosophies. He has been invited to create for Chanel's exhibitions and has been collected, and has held many solo exhibitions both at home and abroad, which has pushed the lacquer art from the traditional craftsmanship to the contemporary art.
