Born in 1954 in Shanghai and graduated from the Printmaking Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) in 1978, he taught in the Printmaking Department (1978-1980), the Folk Art Department (1980-1993), and the Mural Painting Department (1993-2014) of the CAFA until he retired in 2014, and currently lives and works in Beijing and Yanjiao, Hebei.
In the early eighties, the artist had a short period of experience in printmaking. Since the mid-eighties, he has turned to oil painting as his personal medium of creation, in which he has experienced from the figurative and realistic way to gradually enter into the field of abstract visual form of expression, and has always maintained such a way of thinking about painting in order to complete his personal art work in the past fifteen years.
