Contemporary Pop artist Stéphane Gautier creates prints, paintings, and sculptures with recognizable images and phrases in eye-catching colors.Gautier repurposes the logos of well-known brands such as Chanel and Dior, as well as Elle and Vogue, to create work that playfully expresses consumer identity. Gummy bears recur in his work as a nostalgic expression of childhood. Gautier's ongoing "Happy Bears" series features hand-painted aluminum candy figures arranged in a seven-by-seven grid above cultural icons such as Hello Kitty, the Statue of Liberty and Barbie. Gautier renders the bears in vibrant colors to evoke a strong emotional response from the viewer. His work has been exhibited in many galleries and international art fairs in France.
